Gummy smile
A gummy smile is characterized by an excessive display of gum tissue when smiling.
This can result from several factors, including genetics, hyperactive upper lip muscles, overgrowth of gum tissue, or altered tooth eruption.
Botulinum is injected into the area between the nose and the upper lip, targeting the hyperactive upper lip muscles responsible for a gummy smile.
This reduces their activity and lowers the elevation of the lip during smiling.
This leads to a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing smile with reduced gingival exposure.
